The Best Time to Visit Langkawi
Dry season for the beaches and boats; wet season for lower prices and empty sand — plus the jellyfish window to plan around.
Langkawi has two seasons. The dry season, roughly November to April, is the peak: reliable sun, calm seas, and every boat trip running — with December to March the sweet spot. The wet season, about May to October, brings short afternoon downpours, fewer crowds and lower prices. It's hot year-round (30–34°C), and the island is partly sheltered, so even the "wet" months are far from a washout.
Dry vs wet, honestly
Dry season is the safe choice for a beach-and-boats trip — but it's busier and dearer, and holidays (especially Dec–Feb) spike prices. Wet season rain usually comes in 2–3 hour bursts then clears, and you get quiet beaches and cheaper rooms; the trade-off is that some island-hopping and water sports get curtailed when the sea's up, and September–October are the wettest.

Two things to plan around
Watch out
Jellyfish: stings are treated on Pantai Cenang through the season, with the higher-risk window roughly January–June. Box jellyfish are rare but dangerous — obey posted beach flags.
Note
Pulau Payar marine park is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays and shuts entirely for a stretch each year (around March–May) — check before you plan a snorkelling day around it.
