Langkawi is an easy island with children: nothing is more than about 45 minutes apart, the west-coast beaches are gentle, and the headline sights — an aquarium, a cable car, a mangrove safari — are exactly what younger travellers enjoy. Base on the flat, walkable west coast, keep the driving days short, and it mostly runs itself.

Two cautions worth taking seriously
Watch out
Monkeys at the Seven Wells, the cable car and viewpoints will grab food, drinks and phones from small hands — keep snacks out of sight and hold little ones close. And heed jellyfish flags on the beaches (higher risk roughly January–June); a rash vest is cheap insurance. More in safety & health.
Base on the west coast (Cenang or Tengah) for walkable food and beach, hire a car for the sights, and keep the outdoor days flexible around the weather.
