Telaga Tujuh — the Seven Wells Waterfall
Seven linked rock pools spilling down a cliff beside the cable car — a steep, sweaty climb to a natural water-slide with a view.
Telaga Tujuh — "seven wells" — is a waterfall that drops around 90 metres down the flank of Machinchang, carving seven linked pools into the rock. It sits right beside the cable car, so the two pair perfectly into one morning. The catch is the climb: 638 steep steps to the upper pools, and monkeys that will rob you at the top.
Is it worth the climb?
The lower pool is an easy ~200 steps and does most of the job — a plunge pool under the falls where most people stop. The full 638 steps (allow 45–60 minutes up) reach the actual seven wells, natural rock slides, and the cliff edge where the water tips over. Go up if you're fit and want the slides; the lower pool alone is still a good stop. It flows best in the wetter months (roughly September–December); in the dry season it can be thin.
Watch out
Two real hazards up top: the macaques raid bags and snatch food — carry nothing loose and don't feed them — and the currents near the lip of the upper falls are genuinely dangerous. The steps are slippery when wet.
